Ways to Give

There are many ways to make a gift to the Mercy Health Foundation including check or credit card, appreciated securities, donor advised funds and estate plans, corporate philanthropy and employer matched gifts, as well as honoring or memorializing someone special or participating in a special event.

Gift by Check, Credit Card, Securities or IRA
Gift by Check or Credit Card

Your gift by check or credit card is tax-deductible. Mercy will provide you with a letter acknowledging your generous support for tax purposes.

Gifts can be accepted online via our secure website or your gift can be mailed to us along with this donation form:

Gift of Securities

Donating appreciated securities is an excellent way to support the Mercy mission. You can receive an income tax deduction and avoid any potential capital-gains tax, all while helping to ensure high-quality, compassionate healthcare for all.

Your financial advisor can help you make the best decision.

View our transfer instructions to make a gift of securities, or contact us for more information.

IRA Charitable Rollover

The IRA Charitable Rollover allows people age 70½ and older to make direct transfers totaling up to $100,000 per year to qualified charities, without having to count the transfers as income for federal income tax purposes. Because a Charitable Rollover gift reduces income and is not an itemized deduction, it may benefit investors who do not itemize.

Please consult with your financial advisor for more information and to determine what is best for your situation. Mercy is not a tax advisor and information should not be considered tax advice.

You can download this sample letter to initiate an IRA Charitable Rollover gift to Mercy. Please let us know when you direct the rollover gift so we can anticipate the check from your plan provider.

Support a Special Event

Mercy holds several events during the year to support specific initiatives or the areas of greatest need. Contact us with questions or learn more about some of our events.

Gifts in Kind

Gifts in kind are contributions of goods or services, other than cash. Gifts in kind are used many times in special events to raise money to support our mission of healing and service. Example of gifts in kind include:

  • Autographed memorabilia
  • Gift certificates
  • Jewelry
  • Use of a vacation home
  • Event tickets such as sports, theatre or other attraction

We are unable to accept gifts of used durable medical equipment, automobiles, used unwrapped stuffed toys and other second hand items. We have limited capacity to pick up items at your home or business.

If you would like to contribute an item or service, please contact us or complete our In-Kind Donation Form and return it to us.

Become a Corporate Partner

The Corporate Partners Program brings together people and businesses that share a commitment to improving the quality of life in our community. By partnering with Mercy, you invest in the health of our community and build awareness for your business. This exciting initiative provides meaningful recognition to the generous companies that provide philanthropic support to Mercy.

Planned Giving

Like the Sisters of Mercy before us, Mercy Health Services’ physicians, leadership, and staff hold themselves to the highest standards of care while serving all with courtesy, respect, and compassion.

Making a planned gift is a wonderful way to show your support and appreciation for Mercy Health Services and its mission while accommodating your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. With smart planning, you may actually increase the size of your estate and/or reduce the tax burden on your heirs. Did you know that a planned gift can protect your assets, provide for your family, and guarantee you income for life? You can even make a significant impact through a gift that costs nothing in your lifetime (through a charitable bequest under your will).

Learn more about planned gifts from your will or trust, IRA distributions, stock and appreciated securities, life insurance, annuities and more.

If you have included Mercy in your estate plans, we hope that you will share that good news with us. We would like to take steps to ensure your wishes are adhered to when your gift is received and we would like to officially welcome you as a member of The McAuley Society.

Gifts to Remember and Honor
Your gift to recognize a doctor or caregiver, celebrate a birthday, wedding, or anniversary, the birth or adoption of a child, a graduation, or other milestone event is greatly appreciated. Mercy will provide you with a letter for tax purposes acknowledging your generous support.

The person you honor will also receive a letter informing them that a gift has been made in their honor. We will share your name and address with the honoree, but the amount of your contribution will remain confidential.

You can make a gift in honor of a special person or occasion online, or you can mail your gift to us along with this donation form. Please contact us for assistance.

A Gift in Memory

A memorial gift is a way to honor and remember someone who has passed away. Mercy will provide you with a letter for tax purposes acknowledging your generous support.

The family of the person you are remembering will receive a letter informing them that a gift has been made in the memory of their loved one. We will share your name and address with the family, but the amount of your contribution will remain confidential.

You can make a gift in memory of a special person online, or you can mail your gift to us along with this donation form. Please contact us for assistance.

Employer Matching Gifts

An easy way to double or even triple your gift to Mercy Health Services is to find out if your company has a matching gift program. These programs typically match all or a percentage of employee contributions to charitable organizations, making your employer a partner in your personal philanthropy.

Ask your employer if they have a matching gift program. Fill out the matching gift form from your employer and follow their instructions for submitting the match. Please contact us if you have questions.

Donor Advised Funds

Donor advised funds are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to make a charitable gift. If you or your family have a donor-advised fund, you can make a contribution directly to Mercy from your fund. Contact us to learn more about making a gift using a donor advised fund.
